The bone marrow transplant team from the Clinic of Hematology and Transplantation, University Clinical Center Tuzla has successfully performed autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT).
Chief of transplant team and head of the Clinic of Hematology and Transplantation, Prof. Dr. Aida Čustović Arnautović, on that occasion said that autologous HSCT was done to a 49- year- old patient who for the last year has been treated for multiple myeloma.
“When the disease was in a state of complete remission, we have opted for autologius HSCT treatment and the patient underwent an apheresis procedure during two consecutive days. The autologous HSCT was performed in two acts, on 27 and 28 January, 2021. The procedure went well, and the patient is hemodynamically stable with an uneventful recovery.” she said.
