As of today, the Department for Cardiology, Clinic for Internal Medicine, University Clinical Center Tuzla will offer for our patients a new echocardiography procedure- myocardial perfusion stress echocardiography.
Dr. Elnur Smajić, head of the Department for Cardiology explained that stress echocardiography compared to some other techniques is a precise technique for assessing coronary artery disease. Stress echocardiography of myocardium by using acoustic reflections registers changes in shape and size of the heart at a given time. In addition to a precise assessment of cardiac function this technique will provide for timely medical and cardiosurgical treatment. The clinical use of stress echocardiography is in patients with established diagnosis of cardiomiopathy, myocardial infarction, heart defects, heart failure, heart damage due to oncology treatments, heart examination in competitive athletes, neuromuscular and systemic diseases.
Great potential of stress echocardiography is in early detection of sub- clinical heart damage.
