The Department of Nephrology, Clinic for Internal Medicine, University Clinical Center Tuzla and the Royal Preston Hospital from the UK jointly organized webinar on kidney transplantation in the period 15-17 November, 2021. The project resulted from the long- term cooperation of a kidney transplant centers under the leaderships of Dr. Ahmed Aimun from the UK, Prof. Dr. Enisa Mešić, and Prof. Dr. Mirna Alečković- Halilović. A webinar series were held under the auspices of the International Society of Nephrology and supported by the team management of the University Clinical Center Tuzla.
On the occasion Prof. Dr. Mirna Alečković- Halilović said that the project offered healthcare providers from the Department of Nephrology, Dialysis and Kidney Transplantation continuing education, professional and scientific cooperation. ” The project included three rounds of a six- month training program for our doctors in the UK, numerous courses and lectures, including invited presentations at the UK Kidney Association. Within this project a modern ultrasound machine was donated to our department.” said Prof. Dr. Alečković- Halilović.
” Two years ago a successful kidney biopsy course was organized for 35 participants within the project. The cooperation we have achieved is quite useful as well for other disciplines involved in transplant medicine. Thus, today’s series were in the field of nephrology, transplant medicine and COVID-19 in combination with kidney diseases.” said Dr. Ahmed Aimun.
For the next year, thematic series will be dedicated to individual disciplines involved in kidney transplantation and related kidney health topics.
