On 30 November, 2022, the Clinic for Children’s Diseases University Clinical Center Tuzla received a valuable donation. It is the acute dialysis machine intended for continuous renal replacement therapy in pediatric patients worth 50 000 BAM.
The funds for this generous are provided owing to cooperation of the Al- Najat Charity, the State of Kuwait and the Association Heart for the Kids with Cancer.
On the occasion of this donation a press conference was held at the Clinic for Children’s Diseases.
This specialized hemodyalisis equipment will be used for therapy of neonatal and pediatric patients with kidney failure, but also for therapy of cancer pediatric patients with kidney failure associated with cancer and its treatment.
During the press Assoc. Prof. Lejla Osmančević, head of the Clinic for Children’s Diseases emphasized the importance of this donation and said that a 15- year- old patient is currently being treated at the intensive care union for acute lymphoblastic lukemia and kidney failure, and is in great need for acute hemodialysis. On behalf of our patients and all employees she expressed gratitude and thanked the people of the State of Kuwait and the Association Heart for the Kids with Cancer.
In speaking to the press Prim. Dr. Amila Latifagić, chief of the Department for Hematology and Oncology said that in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, about 140 children ages between 0 and 19 years old get sick from malignant diseases every year. The leading malignancies are brain tumors, lymphomas, neuroblastiomas, kidney tumors, of which a certain number of cases require urgent intervention.
