An ultrasound pediatric device was handed over to the Clinic for Children’s Diseases, University Clinical Center Tuzla today. This medical device is a donation given jointly by the Heart Association for Children with Cancer and the Iskra Association of Parents of Children with Malignant Diseases with the help of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ass. Prof. Lejla Osmančević, head of the Clinic for Children’s Diseases on the occasion said that the Department for Hematology and Oncology received a valuable donation of a portable ultrasound device that will contribute to better diagnosis and clinical treatment of children suffering from malignant diseases. ” This donation is of great importance mainly because of the adjustable linear probes that will help pediatric surgeons when applying the central venous catheter”, she said.
As part of this handover ceremony, chief of the Department of Hematology and Oncology Dr. Amila Latifagić and Assoc. Prof. Igor Hudić, medical director also thanked for the donation. In his words of gratitude medical director also mentioned the Parent’s House project, for which a non- profit organization the Association Heart for the Kids with Cancer is being credited with its realization.
Fikret Kubat director of the Association Heart for the Kids with Cancer, highlighted the successful cooperation with hematology- oncology departments in Tuzla, Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar. “Members of the Association listen to the needs of our children, as well as the medical staff, and we strive to mobilize the social community in order to acquire the necessary medical equipment,” he said.
Mayor Zijad Lugavić also attended the handover of the ultrasound device, because the City of Tuzla also supported this project with its donation.
