The Second B&H Interventional Cardiology Symposium (BICS) with international participation begun with an official opening ceremony on Friday 18, 2015. The symposium is organized by Working Group on Interventional Cardiology of Cardiology Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Workin Group on Electrophysiology, and under the auspices of the Tuzla Canton Government. The four symposium sessions featured 23 lectures by renoned specialists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Norway.
According to the president of the organizing committee of the symposium Prim.Dr. Ibrahim Terzić, the BICS focused on the Stent for Life Initiative by Europien Society of Cardiology, of which Bosnia and Herzegovina has been a full member since September, 2012.
The president of Cardiology Society of B&H, Prof. Dr. Zumreta Kušljugić during her speech at the opening ceremony pointed out that this event aimed to show results and news in interventional cardiology, as well as to determine the guidelines for the treatment of patients with myocardial infarction.
Welcome address to the guests also delivered the director of University Clincal Center Tuzla Ass. Prof. Nešad Hotić, who expressed his satisfaction that the UKC Tuzla was co- organizer of this scientific event. He also pointed out that the UKC Tuzla has organized 27 professional meetings and gathered more than 10.000 health professionals in 2015. “ The UKC Tuzla has a mission to promote contiunous education and raise the quality of services for its patients to take regional leadership role in the care for public healt, education and innovation.”
The Tuzla Canton Minister of Health Dr. Bahrudin Hadžiefendić declared the symposium open.
