Professor Dr. Wolf-Dieter Baumgartner is in a professional visit to the Clinic for Ear, Throat and Nose Diseases and Head and Neck Surgery, University Clinical Center Tuzla. Prof. Dr. Baumgartner is an expert in the implantation of hearing implants at the University Clinic for Ear, Throat and Nose Diseases MedUni/AKH Vienna.
During the visit he will be the supervisor of three complex cochlear implant surgeries.
On this occasion director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla Professor. dr. Šekib Umihanić, leader of the cochlear implant team, said that cochlear implant surgeries have been conducted since 2001 at the Tuzla University Clinical Center. The upcoming visit by an esteemed expert from Austria presents a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences and provide education and training in this specialized field to young doctors at the Clinic for Ear, Throat, and Nose Diseases and Head and Neck Surgery at University Clinical Center Tuzla. “Two highly demanding and intricate cochlear implantations in children, along with a particularly complex reimplantation requiring replacement, were successfully performed,” stated Professor Umihanić.”All three surgeries were successful, and following recovery, patients can anticipate comprehensive hearing and speech rehabilitation at our clinic,” he explained.
