A ceremony was held at University Clinical Center Tuzla to mark the opening of the newly adapted space housing the polyclinic section, including the Daily Hospital for the Clinic of Oncology and Radiotherapy, and the Clinic for Hematology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation.
The concept project stemmed from an initiative by the Association of Oncology Patients with Breast Cancer. Spearheaded by Deling, the company responsible for creating the conceptual design, along with its subcontractors, the reconstruction and adaptation of the space commenced with significant investment. The Tuzla Community Foundation also played a crucial role, initiating the campaign “You can be that person” at the behest of Tuzla influencer Mirza Mustafagić, contributing 317,000 convertible marks towards the project. According to Armin Kapetanović, technical director at Deling, the total project value exceeded one million convertible marks.
The polyclinic area, housing the Day Hospital of the Clinic for Oncology and Radiotherapy and the Clinic for Hematology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, has now been equipped with an ion depolarizing device. This technology causes negative ions to settle to the floor, while positive ions remain suspended in the air, thereby enhancing air quality and creating a more comfortable environment for patients within the space.
The implementation of this project will significantly enhance the treatment conditions for oncology patients, thereby improving the quality of healthcare at the University Clinical Center Tuzla.
Professor Dr. Šefika Umihanić, Head of the Clinic for Oncology and Radiotherapy at Clinical Center Tuzla, expressed gratitude to the investors and all individuals whose selfless contributions were crucial in realizing this critically important project for oncology patients.
“I want to extend great recognition and heartfelt gratitude to the team whose knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm have transformed this project into a space that now rivals the world’s largest centers. Your dedication deserves our utmost appreciation.
I also want to express a profound thank you to the donors whose invaluable contributions made this transformation possible. Your generosity not only renovated this space but also uplifted our community, demonstrating our collective strength to overcome any challenge together. Your contribution has made today possible and will forever be intertwined with every healing journey that unfolds in this space.” said Prof. Umihanić in her address.
