The Government of Tuzla Canton and the Public Health Institution University Clinical Center Tuzla have signed an agreement to co-finance the procurement of medical equipment totaling 400 000 KM. This contract marks a significant continuation of efforts aimed at enhancing the infrastructure of Clinical Center Tuzla, with a focus on modernizing and replacing essential equipment to ensure the delivery of high-quality health services.
According to Dr. Dušanka Bećirović, Minister of Health, the objective is to improve service quality, replace outdated equipment, all with the primary goal of benefiting the patients receiving treatment at University Clinical Center Tuzla.
“The provided funds will be used to purchase the most modern ultrasound for the Breast Center at the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Clinic, because we are aware that breast cancer is currently the most common disease in the female population and this ultrasound will help a lot,” said Minister Bećirović.
The contract was signed at University Clinical Center Tuzla, with acting director Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić expressing gratitude to the Government of Tuzla Canton, Prime Minister Irfan Halilagić, and Health Minister Dr. Bećirović for their support and recognition of the needs of University Clinical CenterTuzla.
“The Breast Center within the Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine was established seven years ago. Annually, we conduct approximately 5,000 ultrasound examinations and around 400 core biopsies. The introduction of a new ultrasound machine will significantly enhance the quality of our services,” stated Director Umihanić.
“At the Clinic for Diseases of the Ear, Throat, Nose, and Head and Neck Surgery, we perform a substantial number of diverse surgical procedures. It became imperative to replace the worn-out equipment in our operating rooms. We have acquired a modern operating table equipped with an operating lamp and satellite lighting, which will greatly facilitate our daily operations.”
Prof. Dr. Begzada Hasukić, Acting Deputy Head of the Clinic for Ear, Throat, Nose, and Head and Neck Surgery, emphasized: “Our clinic handles the most complex surgical procedures and receives referrals of the most challenging cases from other cantons, Brčko District, and emergency cases from smaller entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was crucial to replace worn-out equipment in our operating rooms. The donation we received will significantly enhance our daily operations, supporting our surgeons and ensuring special benefits for our patients.”
Dr. Mensura Burina, Specialist in Radiology and Coordinator of the Breast Radiology Team, expressed, “Today marks a joyful occasion for the Breast Center at the Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.”
“We are grateful to the Government of Tuzla Canton for providing us with a new, modern ultrasound machine. This acquisition is crucial as our current machine has become worn out. The new equipment will enhance the efficiency of our work, accelerate processes, and support the education of our young colleagues,” Dr. Burina added.
Today’s donation marks a significant step toward enhancing healthcare services and equipment at University Clinical Center Tuzla, aimed at improving service quality for patients and enhancing the working conditions for medical staff.
