The sixth consecutive Bioethics Symposium with international participation, titled “Bioethics and the Child,” was held from November 8 to 10, 2024, in Sarajevo. Organized by the Bioethical Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the symposium featured 26 invited speakers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia. The symposium aimed to address issues related to child development from the perspectives of medicine, theology, philosophy, sociology, criminology, biotechnology, and other disciplines.
Representing the University Clinical Center Tuzla at the symposium were Assoc. Prof. Igor Hudić, Assistant Director for Medical Affairs, who presented a paper on “Perinatal Outcomes in Biomedically Assisted Fertilization,” and Armin Hurić, Master of Laws and Head of the Department of Legal Affairs and Human Resources, who addressed “Ethical and Legal Dilemmas of Biomedically Assisted Insemination.”
The symposium brought together over 150 participants, including association members, public health professionals, representatives from education ministries, journalists, and students, who engaged in debates and discussions on various aspects of child development. This event was especially valuable for advancing scientific understanding and developing new strategies to improve the health of children and families. It also fostered partnerships and encouraged active involvement from the broader community and society.
