The University Clinical Center Tuzla has enhanced its medical equipment with a state-of-the-art digital dermatoscope, a cutting-edge device designed for the diagnosis of skin conditions. This advanced technology enables precise monitoring and analysis of both pigmented and non-pigmented skin changes, playing a crucial role in the fight against melanoma, one of the most aggressive forms of skin cancer.
Dermatoscopy, the diagnostic technique utilized by this device, provides detailed visualization of the epidermis and deeper skin structures. This significantly improves the chances of early detection and successful treatment of melanoma and other premalignant lesions, marking a major advancement in skin cancer care and prevention.
With the acquisition of a digital dermatoscope, patients will benefit from early melanoma diagnosis, digital monitoring of mole changes, and other suspicious skin lesions. The device enhances diagnostic accuracy and strengthens prevention efforts, particularly for high-risk individuals. These include those with atypical nevus syndrome, a family history of melanoma or other skin cancers, a large number of moles, fair skin, early-life burns, or occupational exposure to UV radiation.
The digital dermatoscope’s ability to store and compare images of skin lesions is a significant advancement, allowing precise monitoring of changes over time and the timely identification of suspicious lesions.
“Thanks to funding provided by the Tuzla Canton Government and the support of the management of the Public Health Institution University Clinical Center Tuzla, the Clinic for Skin Diseases now has access to a modern dermatoscope,” said Dr. Senada Resić Džananović, Acting Director and Head of the Clinic for Skin Diseases at University Clinical Center Tuzla.
Dr. Senada Resić Džananović emphasized, “The introduction of this digital dermatoscope provides our patients with a cutting-edge diagnostic tool that is critically important for the early detection of melanoma. This device not only enhances diagnostic precision but also facilitates the timely initiation of treatment, significantly increasing the chances of a full recovery. Additionally, it will greatly improve the monitoring of suspicious moles in high-risk individuals, further strengthening the clinic’s efforts in combating this serious disease.”
“With the continued support of the Tuzla Canton Government, the University Clinical Center Tuzla remains committed to investing in the modernization and upgrade of its equipment to provide the highest standards of healthcare for our patients. The acquisition of a digital dermatoscope reaffirms our dedication to advancing diagnostics and treatment. Similar projects will continue in the future as part of our ongoing efforts to improve patient care,” emphasized Profč Dr. Šekib Umihanić the Acting Director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla.
