The International Nurses Day is celebrated worldwide to commemorate the birth day of Florence Nightingale, who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing. The day is celebrated around the world on May 12 with a range of events which highlight the important role nurses play in health care.This year the theme of International Nurses Day is Nurses “A Force for Change-Improving health systems’ resilience”.
The Head technician at University Clinical Center Tuzla, Mirza Jahić, speaking on the occasion said that modern nursing today has an important role in the development of public health in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and implementation of its standards in the framework of European and world standards. “Nurses/technicians represent an integral part of the healthcare team, so I would like to emphasize the importance of nursing scientific research in a science of healthcare innovations. Nurses hold leadership positions in a number of health care settings, and that’s why we are obliged to continuously develop the knowledge on which to plan the most effective health care.
The University Clinical Center Tuzla celebrated International Nurses Day 2016, with a regular nursing educative meeting. Two lectures were presented to the participants. Sanela Hamzić, a nurse from the Clinic for Eye Diseases talk about the quality of life in a patient after enucleation surgery.
The second lecture “Testing for thrombophilia” delivered Šljivić Vildana, a nurse from the Polyclinic for Transfusion.
