Today, the University Clinical Center Tuzla opened the Center for Breast as part of its efforts to continually enhance breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment. The Center for Breast will provide patients convenient access to a wide range of services for breast health, breast imaging, ultrasound, mammography and ultrasound guided core needle biopsy.
Ass. Prof. Nešad Hotić, director of University Clinical Center Tuzla in his opening speech expressed satisfaction with expanding our range of diagnostic services and said that Clinical Center Tuzla has made great progress in the past several years when it comes to diagnostics and treatment of cancer patients, especially patients with breast cancer. He also pointed that this center has been designed to provide better prevention, early detection of cancer, and therefore the start of treatment in the early stage of the disease.
The press conference was also held on the occasion of opening ceremony to inform the public about services statistics. It was said that the University Clinical Center Tuzla annually provides about 2.200 mammograms and more than 3000 ultrasound examinations, as well as 250 ultrasound guided core needle biopsies. On a monthly basis, Clinical Center Tuzla provides 7 biopsies and establishes up to 6 newly diagnosed breast cancer cases. The Center for Breast will brought together a complete suite of advanced breast care services, and it will be the place where patients are to receive comprehensive, innovative and compassionate treatment of experienced professionals who deal with the changes and diseases of the breast.
The realization of the Breast Center project is being supported through generous donation of waiting room furniture and ultra sound machine by the Avon company. Mr. Dalibor Ratković, a sales director of Avon BiH said that this company focus since its inception until today is the empowerment of women. The goal of this company is that through its humanitarian work and specific donations provides assistance for global women’s issues, but also to help in local communities, and breast cancer is certainly a major public health concern. Mr. Dalibor Ratković together with the president of the Board of Directors Clinical Center Tuzla Ass. Prof. Munevera Bećarević cut the ribbon and officially opened the Center for Breast.
After the opening ceremony, a round table discussion on the topic “Breast cancer, diagnosis and treatment” was held at Hotel Tuzla. Participants in the round table discussion were Ass. Prof. Jasmina Alidžanović, specialist in oncology, Dr. Dijana Koprić, specialist in oncology, Prim. Dr. Hasan Osmić, specialist in radiation oncology, Ass. Prof Jasminka Mujanović Mustedanagić, specialist in pathology, Dr Azra Pašić specialist in reconstructive surgery, Dr. Mirsad Šekambet, specialist in reconstructive surgery, Dr. Mensura Burina, specialist in radiology. Prof. Dr. Fahrija Skokić moderated a round table discussion.
