The 10th International Scientific and Expert Meeting ” Food for Health” was held last week in Osijek. Prof. Dr. Fuad Pašić was one of several invited speakers during the plenary session and spoke about the multidimensional approach in bariatric surgery and the importance of nutritionist in the interdisciplinary team.
Prof. Dr. Pašić has been recognized as a relevant international expert in the field of surgical treatment of pathological obesity, and in the last four years he has given 11 invited lectures on bariatric surgery. In cooperation with Prof. Dr. Miroslav Bekavac Bešlin from Croatia, he published the book “Surgical treatment of morbid obesity”, and was the sole co-author from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the book “Obesity- clinical aspects” by Prof. Dr. Davor Štimac and associates.
Prof. Dr. Pašić is also being an editor for the journal Endocrine Oncology and Metabolismus.
In September 2017, he was elected to the Associate Professor of surgery position at Medical faculty, University of Tuzla.
Currently, surgical treatment of pathological obesity has been performed only in surgical department of the University Clinical Center Tuzla in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is why the hospital’s management is seeking referral center status from the Federal Ministry of Health.
