Yesterday, representatives of the Public Health Institute of the Tuzla Canton held a press conference on the occasion of the current epidemic situation in the Tuzla Canton. The press conference attended Dr. Bahrudin Hadžiefendić,Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Sead Ahmetagić, Head of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases Clinical Center Tuzla and Ass. Prof. Maida Mulić, director of the Public Health Institute. They reported that one female person had died from a pandemic H1N1 virus on February 19, at the university Clinical Center Tuzla.
” The flu season unfortunately has claimed the lives of four persons. One death is caused by the H1N1 virus and other three deaths are A and B influenza related.” said Dr. Bahrudin Hadžiefendić.
The victims of this season’s deadly flu outbreak are from different cities in the Tuzla Canton.
During the press conference, Prof. Dr. Sead Ahmetagić reported that 15 patients have currently been hospitalized at the University Clinical Center Tuzla. H1N1 influenza virus was isolated in five patients out of these fifteen patients.
He also explained that the symptoms of 2018 H1N1 flu virus in people include high temperature, severe headaches and pain in the hands and feet. He also warned our citizens to see a doctor if they develop flu signs and symptoms such are chest pain, rapid and difficult breathing, lack of air, intense headache or vomiting.
On the occasion, Ass. Prof. Maida Mulić pointed out that the overall epidemiological situation is very uncertain in our Canton and that recommendations to prevent the spread of the disease.have been issued.
