The Fourth Symposium on Allergy organized by the University Clinical Center Tuzla, Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases and supported by the Society of Respiratory Medicine, the Tuzla Canton Medical Chamber and the Tuzla Canton Chamber of health care technicians was held today in the Hotel Tuzla.
This symposium gathered together more than 150 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia and was an excellent opportunity for pneumophysiologists, ENT specialists, dermatologists, pediatricians and doctors in primary and emergency medicine to exchange experiences and current information in the field of allergy.
The head of the Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases Ass. Prof. Suvad Dedić during his speech said the burden of allergic diseases is on the rise worldwide, especially for the past 60 years. As he said every third citizen of the world today suffer from one or more allergic disorder. Moreover, he also mentioned asthma high prevalence, indicating that 300 million people suffer from asthma and about 250.000 people die because of asthma annually. Ass. Prof. Dedić pointed out that the prevalence of asthma in the Tuzla Canton can be considered satisfactory.
The opening ceremony of the Fourth Symposium on Allergy in Tuzla also attended medical director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla Prof. Dr. Fahrija Skokić, president of the Board of Directors Ass. Prof. Munevera Bećarević, adviser to the Minister of Health Dr. Amir Azapagić and Prime Minister of the Tuzla Canton Jakub Suljkanović, who declared the Symposium open.
