The First Symposium of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of Bosnia and Herzegovina with international participation was opened in the Hotel Tuzla in a ceremonial manner. The Symposium organizers were the Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Clinic for Psychiatry, University Clinical Center Tuzla in cooperation with the Psychiatric Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Symposium’s central theme ” Neglecting and other problems of children and youth in modern society: the psychic consequences” gathered mental health experts who on this occasion exchanged knowledge, experience and up- to- date information in this medical field.
The president of the organizing committee of the symposium Prof. Dr. Izet Pajević in his welcome remarks said that the Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Bosnia and Herzegovina was established six years ago and that society has been actively working on improving of mental health care of child and adolescent. “Mental health professionals from the Clinic for Psychiatry, University Clinical Center Tuzla have an important role in mental health advocacy, and according to that they continuously seek ways in which to improve the quality of education and mental health care service delivery as well as to upgrade the inpatient hospital departments and facilities.” said Prof. dr. Pajević.
The event was held under the auspices of the Academy of Science and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and academician Prof. Dr. Enver Zerem announced the symposium official open on behalf of the Academy. The Bosnia and Herzegovina Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Association this year has become a new member of the European Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (ESCAP) that also co- hosted this psychiatric event.
