The Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic of University Clinical Center Tuzla hosted the 11th Tuzla’s ENT School. Prof. Dr. Pawel Jastreboff, developer of the renowned Tinnitus Retraining Therapy gave a lecture on the first day of this two- day medical event.
Tinnitus is the medical term that refers to the perception of noise, ringing, whistling or another similar sound phenomena in one or both ears.
Prof. Dr. Jastreboff pointed out that tinnitus is a major health but also economic and social issue with a million dollars dedicated each year to tinnitus treatment and diagnosis research. ” Reduced sound tolerance is present in more than 60% of patients with tinnitus and can often worsen tinnitus. The patients with tinnitus avoid loud environments and this condition often lowers their quality of life. Some patients report physical pain, strong discomfort, fear, and develop anxiety and depression. Tinnitus retraining therapy has proved to be quite successful in achieving positive outcome in treatment of bothersome tinnitus. Here in Tuzla I will hold a basic course on tinnitus retraining therapy, and the participants will have an opportunity to receive instructions for a special tinnitus treatment plan.” said Prof. Pawel Dr. Jastreboff
On the occasion, head of the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic Prof. Dr. Fuad Brkić said that the ENT School in Tuzla has been organized for many years with mission to spread knowledge in the field of otorhynolaryngology . So far our school have visited 45 renowned experts from the world and 20 from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also, more than 700 participants from Europe and the Balkans have attended our ENT School.
The 11th Tuzla’s ENT School attended 50 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Africa.
