The solemn opening ceremony of the 8th Symposium on Pulmonary Diseases with international participation was held today at the Hotel Tuzla in Tuzla. The Symposium organizers are the Clinic for Pulmonary Diseases, University Clinical Center Tuzla, the Tuzla Canton Medical Chamber, the Society of Respiratory Medicine, and the Association of Nurses/Technicians in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The aim of this Symposium is to present diagnostic and therapeutic challenges in the management of patients with pulmonary diseases, and to present new insights and clinical experiences from participants about pulmonary disease.
The Symposium scientific program also includes nurses/ technicians sessions on pulmonary diseases.
The invited lecturers and eminent experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia will discuss the specificity of lung cancer, the current issues with tuberculosis (TB) in the Tuzla Canton, pulmonary hypertension, transthoracic needle biopsy, immunotherapy in non- small cell lung cancer, TB and hospital infection, the specificity of respiratory therapy in children, etc.
Prof. Dr. Suvad Dedić, the president of the organizing committee of the Symposium said that COPD management clinical guidelines are being updated every year. The guidelines for the year 2020 have already been prepared, and that will also be important theme during this medical event. Prof. Dedić on this occasion said that the incidence of pulmonary disease has been increased worldwide. “It has been an increase in COPD, pneumonia, asthma and lung cancer incidence in the Tuzla Canton, while the incidence of TB is declining.”, he said.
