During the last seven days, the bone marrow transplant team from the Clinic of Hematology and Transplantation, University Clinical Center Tuzla has successfully performed two hematopoietic stem cell transplantations (HSCT).
Prof. Dr. Aida Ćustović, head of the Clinic said that the team performed one allogeneic and one autologous HSCT. The patient suffering from multiple myeloma underwent allogeneic HSCT and the bone marrow donor was his sister. The patient suffering from Non- Hodgkin’s lymphoma underwent autologous HSCT. “ The transplantation procedures are done without complications, and both patients doing well with uneventful postoperative course.” said Prof. Dr. Ćustović.
So far, the team for bone marrow transplantation from the Clinic of Hematology and HSCT has successfully carried out a total of 141 HSC transplantations- 120 autologous and 21 allogeneic in the treatment of hematological, non- hematological, malignant and non- malignant disorders and other congenital and acquired diseases.
