International Epilepsy Day “Purple Day” is celebrated on 26th of March annually around the world. The day was founded in 2008, by nine- year- old girl Cassidy Megan, her parents and Epilepsy Society from Canada.
Motivated by her own struggles with epilepsy, Megan started Purple Day in an effort to increase public awareness about epilepsy. Since then, more than hundred countries have started awareness campaigns, and Purple Day has became global initiative dedicated to raising epilepsy awareness.
For many years traditionally, the Clinic of Neurology ,University Clinical Center Tuzla has joined the worldwide community in supporting the fight against epilepsy, but this year, due to the virus outbreak, all public events on the occasion of the day will be postponed to a more favorable period.
