HEALTH CARE SERVICES:
- Planning and implementation of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for hematological malignant and nonmalignant procedures
- Administration and implementation of chemotherapy
- Application of immunotherapy in combination with or without chemotherapy

- High- dose chemotherapy with hematopoietic stem cell support (autologous bone marrow transplantation)
- High- dose chemotherapy combined with allogeneic bone marrow transplantation from an HLA- matched related donor
- Diagnostic procedures: bone marrow biopsy, bone marrow aspiration from the sternum or the crista iliaca, cytomorphological analysis of bone marrow samples, cytomorphological analyses of peripheral blood samples, cytogenetic analyses of bone marrow and peripheral blood, molecular analyses using the PCR method, flow cytometry of peripheral blood and bone marrow, lumbar puncture for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, CVC placement, ultrasound of the abdomen and heart.

THE DEPARTMENT FOR HEMATOPOIETIC STEM CELL TRANSPLANTATION

The department has four isolating units with a laminar flow features and HEPA filters and one reverse isolation unit with 3 hospital beds.
- The department offers a high- dose chemotherapy in combination with autologous or allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).
- Allogeneic HSCT for patients who have an HLA- matched donor. So far no haploidentical or unrelated donor transplants have been performed at our clinic.
- All stages of transplantation ar carried out in isolation rooms, and if necessary the preparation for transplantation. If the patient’s condition allows it, the patient stays outside the isolation units.
- Prior to transplantation, extensive biochemical and microbiological tests are performed, central venous catheter placement, consultations with psychologist and social worker, and in the case of allogeneic HSCT, HLA typing of the patient and potential donors are performed. The approval of the Ethics Committee is required and mandatory for HSCT.
- Mobilization of hematopoietic stem cells and apheresis in preparation for autologous HSCT
Outpatient follow- up in posttransplantation period upon discharge from the hospital.

Admission:
Complete patient examination, nursing admission assessment and evaluation of medical record documentation are done in admission, whereupon a patient is being hospitalized and sent to the department for the treatment.
Hematology outpatient clinic:
In the hematology outpatient clinic, specialist consultations are performed with a previously scheduled appointment.
Hematology consilium:
The responsible doctor presents the patient’s condition to the consilium team that makes the decision on treatment modality. The consilium team is multidisciplinary and consists of health professionals from different medical branches. Malignant diseases are registered and medical documentation verified ( prescriptions, recommendations to the health insurances etc.)
