Prof. Dr. Branko Malojčić , head of TIA Clinic and Outpatient Department of University Hospital Center Zagreb paid a professional visit to Clinic for Neurology, University Clinical Center Tuzla. The aim of visit was to exchange experiences in outpatient department workflow management, scientific research cooperation and training in transcranial Doppler ultrasonography.
Prof. Dr. Branko Malojčić is a respected expert in the field of neurology and the president of the European Society of Neurosonology and Cerebral Hemodynamics.
“The outpatient department utilisation is in the interest of both the health system and the patients. Outpatient services are more cost-effective than many inpatient services, and patients can recover from treatments or surgical procedures in the comfort of their own homes” said Prof. Malojčić
During the visit Prof. Malojčić also held a practical training on transcranial Doppler ultrasonography, which, in addition to its standard role in diagnostic evaluation of cerebrovascular disease, has other potential as well. “Transcranial Doppler has important application in neuro- critical care units in preparation and following of patients during surgical procedures and the determination of brain death.” he said.
