A team of cardiovascular surgeons at the University Clinical Center Tuzla successfully performed a Mini- Bentall procedure that encompasses aortic valve and aneurysm of ascending aorta replacement, performed via a mini- sternotomy.”
Leading surgeon Prof. Dr. Harun Avdagić on this occasion said that this procedure is highly complex and requires skilled surgeons, an experienced surgical team and specific preoperative evaluation and preparation of the patient. “So far, this type of a minimally invasive aortic valve replacement has not been performed at the University Clinical Center Tuzla, but a multidisciplinary approach and excellent coordination of all team members helped perform this surgery. The mini- Bentall procedure may result in less trauma and earlier recovery compared with the full sternotomy Bentall procedure. The postoperative course is uneventful and the patient’s vital parameters are stable.”, explained Prof. Avdagić
Surgical team who performed the mini- Bentall procedure consists of Prof. Dr Harun Avdagić, subspecialist in cardiovascular surgery with the assistance of Dr. Tarik Bakalović and Dr. Mirza Tokić, Prof. Dr. Alisa Krdžalić, anesthesiologist, Haris Zulić, anesthetist, Senad Brković, scrub technician and Rijad Imamović, perfusionist.
