On Friday, 20th October, as part of continuing training for health professionals, the University Clinical Center Tuzla Clinic for Orthopedy and Trauma hosted Dr Semin Bećirbegović, who supervised corrective valgus osteotomies of the femur and tibia.
Corrective osteotomy is an effective procedure for the surgical management of several degenerative knee conditions mostly performed on younger and physically active patients because it allows them a high level of mobility.
On this occasion Dr. Bećirbegović explained that these surgical procedures are performed to relieve the damaged part in such a way that the load is redirected through the joint by cutting the bone, which is then stabilized using an osteosynthesis plates.
The aim of this surgery is to reduce pain, restore normal joint function and postpone the implantation of a total endoprosthesis.
Head of the Clinic for Orthopedy and Trauma Assoc. Prof. Nedim Smajić thankd Dr. Bećirbegović on a professional visit and expressed his personal satisfaction with training which will certainly improve technical skills in the operating room for the benefit of our patients.
