The University Clinical Center Tuzla hosted a meeting with representatives of the Association of Dialysis and Transplant Patients of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina yesterday. The guests were received by the director Prof. Dr. Denijal Tulumović and members of the transplant teams of the University Clinical Center Tuzla.
In the meeting, participants discussed ways to improve the transplant program at the University Clinical Center Tuzla in order to achieve continuity and increase the number of explants and transplants.
The number of transplant surgeries increased in 2023 compared to last year, it was noted. Sixteen transplant surgeries were done, ten of them in Tuzla. However, a total of sixteen transplant surgeries were performed, ten of which took place in Tuzla. The participants in yesterday’s meeting agreed that this number is insufficient and that more efforts should be made to increase it.
Director Prof. Dr. Tulumović has proposed an initiative to bring together all clinical centers at state level to discuss and try to find a solution to increase transplantation rates in the upcoming years.
It was stated in the conclusion that University Clinical Center Tuzla is committed to maintaining its status as the lading transplant center in BiH while improving its transplant and donation program.
Several measures and regulations aimed at improving the transplant program were proposed to be adopted by the coordinating body for transplant medicine and representatives of the federal government.
