The Clinic for Skin Disases, University Clinical Center Tuzla together with the Association of Patients with Allergies, Asthma and Atopic Dermatitis hosted the Atopy School.
The goal of the organizers was to clarify misconceptions that patients have about atopic dermatitis and therapy, but also to spread awareness about the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of atopic dermatitis in children and adult patients.
The participants of the school attended a series of lectures and workshops on the topic of atopic dermatitis, diagnosis and treatment, and there was also discussion about clothing for children suffering from atopic dermatitis, skin care methods, and the way children are swaddled and bathed.
Head of the Clinic for Skin Diseases, Dr. Senada Resić, a specialist in dermatology, explained that atopic dermatitis is a chronic, inflammatory skin disease characterized by itching and a chronic course, with periods of worsening and improvement, and is also associated with other allergic conditions. According to her, the Atopy School, in addition to education, also aims to point out the importance of self-care and self-control of the disease so that the patients themselves can influence the adequate dealing with the disease.
