The University Clinical Center Tuzla marked Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Statehood Day with a commemorative ceremony. Delegations from the University Clinical Center Tuzla and the Association of Demobilized Veterans of Public Health Institutions of the Tuzla Canton paid their respects by laying flowers at the memorial located in the park of Clinical Center Tuzla.
Statehood Day is celebrated in honor of the founding assembly of ZAVNOBiH, which established the foundations of modern statehood for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić, Acting Director of University Clinical Center Tuzla, extended his congratulations to all citizens and employees of Clinical Center Tuzla. He emphasized that the celebration of November 25th serves as a reminder of the responsibility to uphold the statehood, historical continuity, and anti-fascist tradition of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“By commemorating this date, we honor the events of 1943 and the first session of ZAVNOBiH as a symbol of freedom and democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the same time, we promote coexistence, tolerance, and respect for cultural diversity,” stated Director Umihanić.
Following the flower-laying ceremony, history professors Muhamed Husejnović and Amir Hodžić delivered a lecture titled The Historical Roots of Bosnian Statehood. The event was attended not only by the delegations mentioned earlier but also by employees of the Public Health Institution of the University Clinical Center Tuzla.
