A multi-day training course on the use of high-flow oxygen therapy devices was held at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases, University Clinical Center Tuzla. The program, attended by doctors and medical technicians from Clinical Center Tuzla, combined theoretical lectures with practical sessions. The primary goal of the training was to enhance the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals in the application of modern therapeutic devices.
Prof. Dr. Jasmina Smajić, Acting Head of the Clinic for Anesthesiology and Resuscitation at the University Clinical Center Tuzla, highlighted that the first training for employees of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases was conducted in 2021. Since then, the training concept and process have been continuously evolving and improving.
“At the initiative of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases, we have organized a program that covers both basic and advanced principles of oxygen therapy. Over the course of several days, participants engage in a theoretical segment that includes the fundamentals of anatomy, respiratory physiology, the importance of ventilation and perfusion, and the application of both low-flow and high-flow oxygen therapy. We also place particular emphasis on understanding the potential negative effects of oxygen therapy. The theoretical component is followed by practical training, allowing participants to immediately apply their newly acquired knowledge,” emphasized Prof. Dr. Smajić.
The training generated significant interest among participants, all with the shared goal of further enhancing the quality of healthcare services.
“We conducted an entrance test to assess the participants’ baseline knowledge, followed by an evaluation test at the end of the training. This approach enables an objective assessment of knowledge transfer and the program’s effectiveness,” concluded Prof. Dr. Smajić.
The collaboration between the Clinic for Infectious Diseases and the Clinic for Anesthesiology and Resuscitation has been highlighted as a key factor in ensuring high-quality education and advancing healthcare standards at the University Clinical Center Tuzla.
“Continuous education and knowledge transfer are fundamental commitments of the University Clinical Center Tuzla management. We are dedicated to providing our employees with the latest information, knowledge, and skills to effectively address the challenges of modern medicine and the issues they encounter in practice. Through education initiatives such as this training on the use of high-flow devices, we ensure a high standard of healthcare for our patients. Our commitment to continuous professional development is not merely an obligation but the cornerstone of our success in delivering top-quality healthcare services,” stated Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić, Acting Director of University Clinical Centr Tuzla.
