A new linear accelerator has been delivered to the University Clinical Center Tuzla, a device that will enable the provision of radiotherapy services at this healthcare institution. This modern device, along with a CT simulator, radiotherapy planning system, and phantoms, is part of a valuable procurement achieved through a tender procedure and a contract between the University Clinical Center Tuzla and the company Inel-Med d.o.o. Mostar, with a total value of 8,499,008.00 KM.
The director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla, Prof. Dr. Šekib Umihanić, emphasized on this occasion that after the de- installation of the existing equipment, preparations were made for the delivery of new radiotherapy equipment, including work on electrical installations, cooling and air conditioning systems, and modifications to the space where the new equipment will be installed.
“Today, with great pleasure and joy, I can say that the University Clinical Center Tuzla will soon provide radiotherapy services with a new linear accelerator, CT simulator, and all necessary systems for precise radiotherapy planning. Through the installation and clinical use of this equipment, for which the contract defines a deadline of 180 days, we will offer high-quality treatments for malignant diseases to patients in the Tuzla Canton. Additionally, the contract includes staff training, which is particularly satisfying as we will have highly qualified healthcare workers operating this equipment,” he said.
According to Muhamed Topčagić, a doctor of health sciences and graduate engineer in medical radiology, the planned work is progressing as scheduled.
“We are working at an accelerated pace on the installation of the linear accelerator and the accompanying equipment, and all planned work is proceeding according to the scheduled timeline. There are no delays, and we are striving to complete the installation ahead of schedule to provide patients with access to advanced radiotherapy as quickly as possible,” emphasized Topčagić.
