On the occasion of the 10th European Cervical Cancer Prevention Week, which is organized at the end of January each year, the UKC Tuzla Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics organized a press conference in order to present cervical cancer prevention activities, and to inform the public about the importance of cervical cancer prevention.The press was addressed by Prof. Dr. Fahrija Skokić, medical director, who said that developed countries keep cervical cancer under control, while developing countries remain far behind in these basic cancer prevention efforts and the awareness in women is at low level.
This year, the UKC Tuzla Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics has joined the European initiative with many activities. All activities will take place in two phases: the first phase will be set in the period of 18-22 January, with planned promotions, proffesional lectures and anonymous surveys under the coordination of specialists in gynecology from all health centers in Tuzla Canton.
The second phase refers to an educational visit of health professionals to the final grades of elementary and secundary schools.
The central activity, which is scheduled for 20 January, refers to the visit of health care professionals from the UKC Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics to Srebrenica. They will offer free gynecology care, heath education and lab test for Srebrenica’s returning residents. Following the example of activities related to cervical cancer prevention in the European Union, the students of the Faculty of Physical Education also have joined the initiative and scheduled 21 January for one-hour fitness training.
The press had the chance to see demonstration of cervical cancer prevention and awareness video material. The video was produced in cooperation with the Academy of Drama Arts, University of Tuzla.
