Today, the Tuzla Canton Health Minister Bahrudin Hadžiefendić and the director of Tuzla Canton Public Health Institute Maida Mulić, accompanied by the director of University Clinical Center Tuzla Ass. Prof. Nešad Hotić, medical director Prof. dr. Fahrija Skokić and head of the Clinic of Infectious Diseases Prof. dr. Sead Ahmetagić visited hospitalized patients, who are due to symptoms of poisoining retained for treatment at the Clinic of Infectious Diseases.
On this occasion, Minister Hadžiefendić sent wishes for a quick and full recovery: “We are pleased that both hospitalized patients are now in good condition, and I hope that they will be soon released from the hospital.”
” Heavy rainfall events impacted on the quality of the water resource, and contaminated a drinking water supply. An intense rainfalls in the period 22-23 August caused drainage blocks and contamination of drinking-water source”, said the director of Tuzla Canton Public Health Institute Maida Mulić, and added that the Public Health Institute is to take certain preventive measures such as a ban on drinking tap water, disinfection of a local water facility, and more often monitoring of drinking water quality.
According to head of the Clinic of Infectious Diseases Prof. dr. Ahmetagić, a total of thirty-nine patients from Lukavac Municipality are referred to Clinical Center Tuzla with diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain and fewer due to consumption of infected water. Two patients are hospitalized, seventeen patients are observed in daily hospital, and twenty patients are sent to home care.
