The University Clinic Center Tuzla ,Clinic of Neurology, the Association of Neurologists of the Tuzla Canton and the Association of medical students “MEDICUS” have joined in celebration of 26 March- International Epilepsy Day “Purple Day 2017 “. The day is named after the internationally recognized color of epilepsy, purple or lavander, and people are encouraged to wear a purple- colored item of clothing on March 26 to inform those with seizures that they are not alone.
The doctors from the Clinic of Neurology together with medical students hosted an event within our local community in Bingo City Center on Sunday and shared epilepsy educational and awareness materials. Also, our doctors and students educated our citizens on the first aid steps when someone has a convulzive seizure.
Today, more than 50 million people worldwide live with epilepsy, while 58% of patients hide the disease because of negative attitudes to epilepsy and stigma. The aim of this campaign was to show support and solidarity to people and families living with epilepsy.
