The Second Symposium on Neonatology “The Day for a Newborn” organized by the University Clinical Center Tuzla and the Association of Pediatricians in BiH was held on Friday, 12 May, 2017 in the presence of more than 300 participants and guests. The symposium provided a thematic program with topics organized under different areas in Neonatology. It was talked about preterm birth, infants born small for gestational age, and treatments of preterm infants in intensive care union units.
Prof. Dr. Fahrija Skokić, medical director and the president of the organizing committee of the Symposium said:” The aim of the Symposium is to identify the most important issues of clinics in obstetrics, perinatology, neonatology and pediatrics today. Our task is continuos learning about common infant and new born conditions, as well as to perform neonatal research in our hospital, all with a noble purpose of better serving our community healthcare needs. Moreover, our aspirations were to present the role and limitations of Neonatal Intensive Care Union and comprehensive care of critically ill newborns from the birth to the discharge. With this scientific works we hope that we will manage to achieve our ultimate goal to play a larger role in the decline of infant mortality.”
Director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla Ass. Prof Nešad Hotić welcomed all the guests and participants during the opening ceremony and stressed the importance of continuing education for practicing neonatology and perinatology health care providers.
Minister of Health in the Tuzla Canton Dr. Bahrudin Hadžiefendić officially declared the Second Symposium on Neonatology open.
