The solemn opening of the Fifth Congress of Pediatricians in B&H with international participation took place last night in the Hotel Mellain in Tuzla. Pediatric Congress gathered more than 300 participants and about 50 lecturers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and Slovenia.
The organizers of the Congress have paid special attention to selection of topics and invited lecturers, thus building the scientific program to offer the participants the actual content. The main topics are: primary health care of children, health care legislation, preventive and social pediatrics, clinical problems in pediatrics, pediatric surgery and adolescent gynecology, mental health of children.
Prof. Dr. Fahrija Skokić, president of the organizing committee of the Congress and president of the Society of Pediatricianas in B&H while delivering a speech at the opening ceremony said ” The fact that the University Clinical Center Tuzla takes the initiative to hold this professional gathering at such a high level and with so many important participants clearly demonstrates our strong determination to address the challenges that exist in pediatric medicine and to find ways to better understand and fill gaps in every day clinical work.
The congress will showcase the best and most up to date evidence in pediatric care through lectures, presentations and workshops, debates and panel discussions covering a range of subjects.
The next three days, pediatricians, neonatologists, pediatric surgeons, researchers, scientists, medical practitioners, academics and health workers, will be dedicated to identifying research and practice based innovations in optimizing pediatrics & neonatology development. It is our chance to facilitate opportunities for networking, collaboration and exchange of ideas with internationally renowned experts in pediatrics. This Congress is also a chance for all of us to discuss and debate the challenges and priorities in the new era of pediatrics and its development reforms.”
Dr Bahrudin Hadžiefendić, Minister of Health of the Tuzla Canton Government believes that this Congress is a great acknowledgment to the health care system in Tuzla Canton. ” I am sure that the Congress lecturing will be very useful for practicioners to develop their knowledge of pediatric treatment and medicine, as well as for the improvement of health sector.”
Welcoming speech also delivered the director of the University Clinical Center Tuzla, Ass. Prof. Nešad Hotić, who said the health and lives of those who are dearest to us– our children– rest in hands of pediatricians. That’s the reason that all pediatricians share a burning ambition to shape and define better guidelines and standards to improve this branch of medicine.” I hope hope that this congress of pediatricians will be a great opportunity to share experiences, talk about modern trends in the development of pediatric medicine, and simply discuss what needs to be done to make medical care more effective, to find better methods, and to improve preventive practices.” said Ass. The 5th Congres of Pediatricians was officially declared open by Premier of the Tuzla Canton, Jakub Suljkanović.
