During the last week. the director of Orthopedic Trauma, Level 1 Trauma, CRMC, Arizona, the United States, Prof. Dr. Enes Kanlić was in a professional visit to the University Clinical Center Tuzla. During the visit to Tuzla, Prof. Kanlić together with the team of orthopedic surgeons performed osteosynthesis- a surgical procedure of a bone fracture. This is a new surgical procedure in a patient with the pubic and lower back bones fracture in which bone fragments of the anterior part of the pelvis are joined with plates and screws, and a fixation of the posterior part of the pelvis was performed by using screws and a minimally invasive technique through small cuts and under x-ray.
Ass. Prof. Aleksandar Vujadinović, head of the Department of Vertebrology explained that so far the patients whit this type of injuries have been treated in a nonoperative manner, which required long- term laying in a bed. Patients were forced to be in one position without possibility to get up with weights on their feet. With this method of osteosynthesis, the patient is mobile the first day after the surgery, and the second or third day is being discharged from the hospital.
Prof.Dr. Enes Kanlić also held several interesting lectures for doctors and residents of the Clinic for Orthopedy and Trauma.
