The solemn opening ceremony of the XVII Days of Psychiatry in Bosnia and Herzegovina with international participation was held today at the Hotel Mellain, Tuzla. This important professional event is organized by the Association of Psychiatry in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Association for Pediatric and Adolescent Psychiatry in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Clinic for Psychiatry, University Clinical Center Tuzla, under auspices of the Academy of Sciences and Arts B&H and the European Psychiatric Association.
Prof. Dr. Izet Pajević, president of the symposium organizing committee and head of the Clinic of Psychiatry delivered the keynote address at the opening and said that the circumstances in the modern world are having serious impact to an increase on the incidence rate of mental disorders, which requires rethinking the earlier ones and finding new methods of the prevention and treatment. ” For that reason, attending eminent experts of this symposium will have a complex and important task to present many conceptual issues and dilemmas encountered in everyday clinical practice.” he said.
Academician Prof.Dr Mirsada Hukić officially declared open XVII Days of Psychiatry in Bosnia and Herzegovina with international participation, and talked on the importance of the continuity of education and development of psychiatry as a special scientific discipline that deals with the protection and promotion of mental health.
The scientific program of the first day offers lectures in the field of adult psychiatry. The second day of event participants can attend the Second Symposium on Pediatric and Adolescent Psychiatry.
